The Navy Velvet Plain Albert Slipper is a study in restrained elegance. Hand-cut from a single pattern of deep navy velvet and trimmed with tonal binding, the design is clean, simple and true to the classic Albert silhouette. Lined in blue quilted satin, it is comfortable underfoot and completed with a leather sole.
This plain vamp style is ideal when the intention is quiet refinement, whether worn at home or with evening dress.
Crafted on the 7033 pattern using the P last, an E-width fitting. The square tongue is a hallmark of the Albert slipper. As with all loafers, a firm fit is preferable for security and comfort.
In keeping with the traditional way in which slippers and house shoes have always been made, each slipper made for The Merchant Fox is created using an age-old shoe making process that involves hand crafting the fabric upper onto a last to create the slipper shape.
Norfolk has always been well known for shoe making, with evidence that there has been a footwear business operating from the same address in Norwich as far back as 1843.
The pure wool grey flannel for these exquisite slippers is woven by Fox Brothers & Co Ltd. at their mill in the West of England. Established in 1772. Fox has a rich history of producing fine woollen and worsted cloths in Somerset and some of the people involved in the weaving of this extraordinary cloth are the fourth generation of their family to work for Fox Brothers.
