U.S. Customers : Duties and Taxes Update

U.S. Customers : Duties and Taxes Update

From 29 August 2025, the U.S. has removed the $800 duty-free allowance. All orders from The Merchant Fox are now subject to customs duties, tariffs, and taxes, regardless of value.

A Wool Jacket as an Example
Take one of our wool jackets. Previously, if it were priced under $800, it could arrive in the U.S. duty-free. Now, that same jacket is subject to duties and tariffs. For jackets made in the UK, the tariff is usually around 10%, while those made elsewhere may carry a different rate depending on origin.

What This Means for You

  • Every order will go through customs clearance.

  • DHL Express will manage this and collect duties or taxes before delivery.

  • State taxes may also apply.

We appreciate this is a change and want you to feel fully informed. If you would like advice about duties on your order, please contact us.

The Merchant Fox remains committed to offering thoughtful, timeless pieces, delivered with transparency and care.
