Navy Wool Cable Knit Jumper

Here at the Merchant Fox, we have curated and brought into our collection the Navy 100% British Wool cable knit jumper.

The cable knit has a long history, dating from 1900 these heavy jumpers were originally worn by fisherman. Traditionally made in the Aran Islands, located in the west of Ireland. Reportedly made by the fisherman's wife's who took the cable pattern of the traditional gansey jumper but made it with thicker wool and a simpler construction.

The cable knit has been a timeless piece for over a decade and has been worn by some of great icons from Elvis Presley and Steve McQueen to John Lennon and Grace Kelly.
