Fox Exmoor Check Albert Slippers
The Merchant Fox has combined this beautiful Fox Brothers Exmoor check featuring flashes of pink and crimson with a quintessentially British hand-lasted Albert slipper with a leather sole.
The Exmoor Check 'West of England Tweed' is woven by Fox Brothers and is inpired by the English countryside of rolling hills and untamed moors grazed by sheep, which surround the historic Somerset mill. The pure woollen outer of the slipper is woven in Fox Brother's mill, is complimented by a satin lining.
Made in Norfolk by a shoemaker whose shop has been on the same site for over 130 years, each slipper is moulded onto a last to ensure comfort and also durability so the slipper holds its shape over time.

In keeping with the traditional way in which slippers and house shoes have always been made, each slipper made for The Merchant Fox is created using an age-old shoe making process that involves hand crafting the fabric upper onto a last to create the slipper shape.
Norfolk has always been well known for shoe making, with evidence that there has been a footwear business operating from the same address in Norwich as far back as 1843.
The pure wool Russell Check used for these exquisite slippers is a classic British design woven by Fox Brothers & Co Ltd. at their mill in the West of England. Established in 1772. Fox has a rich history of producing fine woollen and worsted cloths in Somerset and some of the people involved in the weaving of this extraordinary cloth are the fourth generation of their family to work for Fox Brothers.
